The Miami Heat bring back Udonis Haslem for another season. Captain 305 is back in the building, the first of two off season dominoes Heat Nation was waiting to fall.
The long-time Dade County native rejoins Miami for his 16th season in a Miami Heat uniform after signing a 1-year/$2.4 million according to Shams Chariana of The Athletic. Haslem has become a staple to Pat Riley’s Miami Heat squad and it would be odd to find him elsewhere.
Many believe this could be Haslem’s last NBA season as he reaches the age of 38, his minutes have been declining for a few years. He joins his partner and Miami legend, shooting guard Dwyane Wade, for what could be the last season on the court together for these Miami greats. Much excitement is drawn of Haslem’s return and can be a vital key behind the scenes and in the locker room for this growing Heat team. Many people with knowledge of the Miami Heat front office think Haslem could be a candidate for a role there once his playing career has come to an end.

Haslem has become an overlooked player to many NBA fans, but to the Miami fanbase, Haslem will always be a hero. From his play and dedication to the community of the 305, Haslem truly shows what it means to give it all for his city. He is an incredible business man, collaborating with Dwyane Wade on a new restaurant concept called 800 degrees Woodfired Kitchen in Aventura. Haslem has numerous other business interests in the South Florida community and does fantastic work with his local children’s charity the Udonis Haslem Foundation. Nobody defines a true Miami local like Udonis.
Miami Heat fans can now welcome a hero back onto the floor for another year of “UD” cheers. For the 16th time in his career, the three-time NBA champion will set foot back in American Airlines Arena to help push Miami towards the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
