If you are looking at the four greatest athletes in Miami sports history, Dwyane Wade’s name is on that Mount Rushmore.
A name that has brought energy, passion, and Championship rings to the 305. A name that won’t be quickly forgotten. When he plays his final season alongside Captain Udonis Haslem, Heat Nation will see the close of an incredible era. As the Jimmy Butler saga continues to unfold as we publish, Heat fans must reflect and appreciate this last season as one for the ages.
Wade may not score the amount of points he did in his last season as he did in the mid-2000’s, but don’t let that count The Flash out from having a few curtain-call showcases where he puts on a clinic. Miami has a lot of budding talent and this should be a very entertaining 82 games. The East is a wide open conference and Miami looks to be a mid to lower seed playoff team at this point. Having a leader like Wade around one more season solidifies the roster and gives Erik Spoelstra a steady veteran in the backcourt to right the ship when needed.
Wade’s last dance with the Miami Heat will be one to remember. That final game, where he walks off the court for the last time, Kleenex is going to have to sponsor that game because there’s not going to be a dry eye in the house.
With his burgeoning business portfolio, Wade is certainly going to continue being a global presence once he hangs it up. There will certainly be more opportunities for us to enjoy his talents in other ventures. Once this chapter closes on an incredible athletic career, the sky is the limit.
Thank you D-Wade for changing the game of basketball, and for showing everybody out there that you are more than just an athlete.
