The Miami Dolphins had only one things to play for in their season finale in Buffalo, and they showed that they could not have cared less…
It was Adam Gase. Miami’s head coach of the team for the past 3 seasons. He came on to the scene and took the Dolphins to the playoffs, something fans propped him onto a pedestal for. Then multiple seasons of bad decisions and too much power led him to this moment. A cold game up in Buffalo, where Gase would need his players to play for his job.
I think he just lost it. Miami lost to the Bills 17-42. No one cared about this game, besides Bills fans. Dolphins players definitely did not care. There were zero good takeaways from this mess as a Miami fan. In what should be his last game as the Fins’ QB, Tannehill had 147 yards and 2 INTs. However, he did catch a short TD pass from Kenny Stills. Maybe he should have pursued that WR career. The Dolphins knew Tannehill was done, they just didn’t even have anything else to go to.
The offensive line gave up 4 sacks, I guess an improvement. RBs Drake and Ballage got similar carries and produced the same results. The WRs were mediocre, but limited by Tannehill. DeVante Parker definitely played his last game as a Dolphin. An experiment that lasted too long and was a major disappointment, just like Adam Gase.
This Miami Dolphins team has broken the franchise record for most points given up in a season
There is not much to say about the defense, because they weren’t there. Rookie LB Jerome Baker played fine, Reshad Jones got a pick-six, and Reakwon McMillan recorded his 100th tackle on the season. That’s about it for the good. This defense is in shambles under Matt Burke. No one should be safe, no one. Maybe Minkah Fitzpatrick and Xavien Howard.
Finally, I now fully expect owner Stephen Ross to clean house with the front office and coaching staff, including Gase. This was his chance to show his players still wanted him around and he blew it.
