The Miami Dolphins have shifted their approach in building up a team. They want to go younger and establish good football for many years to come. Will they draft a QB early this year or will they look to improve elsewhere. With a coach that has yet to be hired, it is difficult to read who Miami may be thinking of. Nonetheless, here’s an early look at who the Dolphins may target in April.
1st Round, Pick 13: QB Drew Lock
As mentioned in our top candidates to replace Tannehill article, Drew Lock is great NFL prospect who has a cannon for an arm. He can make all the throws in the NFL but must improve his accuracy and decision making. The Miami Dolphins are looking forward to life without Ryan Tannehill. Lock can be the Fins next project. The NFL combine will tell us, if Haskins or Lock is the first QB taken in this year’s NFL Draft.
2nd Round, Pick 48: G Cody Ford
Cody Ford played tackle at Oklahoma but will translate to playing guard at the NFL level. His technique will need a little shuffling. He is a big bodied human being who is hard to move. Normally defensive players need help moving him around. He’s strong and is a great athlete for his size. Will give the Dolphins a sure needed player with huge upside.
3rd Round, Pick 78: DT Gerald Willis
Next up, is a round where the Dolphins have been hit or miss. Gerald Willis is an explosive defensive tackle who uses his hands to get off blocks effectively. Miami Dolphins need someone who can stop the run and Gerald Willis could be paired up with Davon Godchaux or Vincent Taylor and could be a great upgrade at that position. He does have some non-football incidents which will allow him to fall on team’s draft board.
