Game 23 of 162: Cleveland Indians vs. Miami Marlins
Alright, guys, I’m sorry. I’ve missed a handful of games recently. The hope is that nothing like that happens again. I’m back to bring you a game preview for game 23 out of 162. The Marlins are set to kick-off a quick two-game series against the Cleveland Indians. This past weekend, the Marlins won their first series of the year. This was against the Washington Nationals. Although this is just a two-game series, the Marlins have a chance to get their first “sweep,” of 2019. This would be a little easier than other series simply because it is just two games. Let’s take a look at game 23 of the season.
Pitching Match-up: Carlos Carrasco vs. Pablo Lopez
Game Time: 6:10 PM
Location: Progressive Field
Carlos Carrasco gets the ball for the Cleveland Indians. The Indians come into this game with a record of 12-9 and have lost their last two games. Carrasco is coming off of probably his best start of 2019. He threw seven shutout innings where he gave up just three hits and struck out 12. With that start, Carrasco is 2-2 on the season with an ERA of 7.41. Carrasco’s best trait this season has been his strikeouts. In 17 innings this season, he has 29 strikeouts.
The lefty, Pablo Lopez gets the ball in this game. On the season, he is just 1-3 with an ERA of 5.85. I’ve talked about Lopez’s control before. In 20 innings this season, he has just three free passes. This is outstanding for Lopez, a young pitcher, and the Marlins staff as a whole.
I’m going to be clear and simple here. I’m taking the Indians to win this game. I know that the Marlins have won two out of their last three and the Indians have lost their last two, but I don’t like the match-up with Carrasco. The Marlins will struggle to bunch hits together against the strikeout artist Carrasco.
