Game 29 of 162: Cleveland Indians vs. Miami Marlins
The Marlins will be starting the second two-game series with the Cleveland Indians within the first month of the season. The last time these two teams met, they each won a game. However, this time the Marlins are playing in Miami. I’m not sure how much that matters to you guys, but as a former player, it just feels better playing at home. Let’s take a look at game 29 of the season.
Pitching Match-up: Trevor Bauer vs. Sandy Alcantara
Game Time: 7:10 PM
Location: Marlins Park
This will be Trevor Bauer’s 7th start of the young season. Thus far, Bauer is 3-1 with an outstanding 1.99 ERA. He has thrown 40.2 innings and struck out 45 batters while walking 19 and giving up just 23 hits. In his last start, Bauer went eight innings giving up just one run. The strange part in this start was the fact that he only struck out three batters and walked six batters. Bauer has pitched like a legitimate Cy Young contender so far this season. Whether or not he continues to pitch at this high level is yet to be seen.
I don’t think I need to remind any of you that I love Sandy Alcantara. Through five starts this season, Alcantara is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA. He has just 21 strikeouts in 28 innings which seems low to me. His stuff is nasty and I’ve written an entire article dedicated to that fact. Which makes it mind-boggling that he has just 21 strikeouts. I’ve probably been the most outspoken about Alcantara’s need to throw strikes. He has done a decent job thus far. The more strikes he throws, the more strikeouts he will get simply because of how good his stuff is.
I’ve been on a bit of a hot streak. However, I’ve picked the teams that the Marlins have been playing. This is the same case here. I’m taking the Cleveland Indians to win this game behind another great start from Bauer. Sorry Marlins’ fans.
